I'm a wife.  I'm a mom.  I'm a recovered scrapbook store owner.  I'm blogger.  I don't necessarily do any of them well, but I sure do put my heart into it!

I've been blogging since 2007.  I once owned a scrapbook store for almost a decade & the blog was part of the store...though many of the posts were store related, I found it was also a good outlet to talk about just about anything.  My favorite restaurants, favorite local businesses, raising a kid,  my adorable husband, pretty much anything.  When the store & I parted ways, I found I really missed blogging.  A friend suggested I continue with a new one, which is where you are today.  The name All Shiny and New came from quite a bit of brainstorming (the initial blog name was Dinosaurs in the Basement...I think Toy Story was playing when I came up with that).  Then I played around with my dog Maggie's name...I call her Magpie all the time...so of course I looked up Magpies...& found out they collect shiny things.  Because I was starting this whole new life, I thought I should play around with that.  Thus All Shiny and New was born.


Things I love:  my husband, my daughter & my family (no brainers), really good black coffee, yellow curry, my three dogs (well, two of them anyway), long walks with Audra & Dutch (and while I prefer the summer months, nothing beats being the first to blaze a trail in the early morning snow!), martinis with Kim, art supplies (& the idea of using them), my two chickens (Original & Extra Crispy), Sunday morning at the movies, a nice cold Corona with lime, yoga, my spiffy Electra bike, books (actual books), photographs, IKEA...oh so many things!  And don't fret, there are things I don't like, too...plenty of them!  You'll have to check in from time to time to see what up.
