Jack & Mr. Policeman

P1010082_2 P1010081_5

The local police stop by our store frequently.  (And so do Jack
& his mom, Anna.)  Jack just happened to be here & LOVES
police cars.  So Mr. Policeman (who might that be? hmmm) pulled his
car around for Jack to take a look in.  He loved the lights!
He loved the car!  He had no desire to get into it.  Can't
say I blame him....what a cutie!

Fast & Easy Pages

Here's the last page for the Fast & Easy page class for Wednesday
night...6:30 pm.  There are still a few spots!  You'll get to
copy our layouts OR we'll help you select paper that matches your

Daycare dilemmas

Anybody have any baby sitters that they love that are taking on new
kids?  My sister in law's baby sitter is "retiring" and Kris is in
need of a home daycare provider that can take a 2 year old and then a
new baby in November.  If you have any suggestions, please email
them to me at aboutmemories@safeaccess.com .  Thanks so much!

More on the card contest...

I forgot to mention, there is no size restriction on the card
contest.  Well, a card as big as my UPS man probably isn't a good
idea, but who says a card has to be a "normal" size or shape?  Not
me, that's for sure!  So make an accordion card (filled with 40
gift cards...ha!ha!) or a card the shape of a dolphin...or anything else
you can imagine.  It's not like you're mailing them, so postage
isn't an issue.  Oh my gosh, I'm so excited about this
contest!  I hope you are, too!

4th of July Decor

My friend Maria was commenting this weekend that she's just not
finding any cute 4th of July stuff this year.  I beg to
differ.  Check out our display at the store (they were soooo
easy!):

Card Contest

It just dawned on me that in one month I'll be 40 (July 20th).  I
thought that 40 would come with more fan fare & stress.  I
remember my mom's 40th birthday as being tramatic.  That could be
because my brother & I destroyed the house...then he had me get her a
card, which was really sappy & so not him!  It was
not one of the better days of her life, I'm sure.  So I am
surprised to find myself almost at 40 and feeling...well, better than I
did at 35....fit...healthy...still adoring my husband...lovin' being a
mom...really, just lovin' life.  And some how it's working out that
I'll be turing 40 at Disneyland....at the Happiest Place on
Earth!  I'm hoping to be having a birthday party at Goofy's
Kitchen, which is funny, because no one I know would ever consider me
goofy, or even silly.  But I really want a party there.

What better way to celebrate my birthday than to have a
contest!  We have four card categories, with four prizes.
Here are the details:

  • The cateories are:  funny, fresh & funky, elegant, & altered.

  • Limit one entry per category.

  • Entries must be received between June 20th and July 20th, 2007.

  • I get to keep your cards...unless you really want it back...they are for me, right?

  • The winner's will each receive $40 to About Memories and More and
will have their work posted here.  I'll even submit them to Paper
    Crafts for you!

  • Voting will take place the week of July 23rd, with the winner being announced on July 30th.

  • Make sure your name & phone number are on the back of each entry.

Here are some hints:

  • Make it personal.  It's all about me...how conceited is that?!!  Well, it really just gives you focus.

  • Here are some things I like:  long walks with my dogs, hiking,
mexican food, cake, purple, dark chocolate, dolphins, tattoos, reading
(I'm a magazine & book junkie...can't get enough!), taking photos,
scrapbooking (duh!), Saturday morning breakfasts at Cafe Espress (aka
cafe slooowwww), grande non-fat lattes with 1 pump of sugar free
cinnamon dolce from Starbucks, going to the movies (love, love, love the
movies), summertime, the beach, Christian Bale, my Chaco sandals, High School Musical, and so much more!

  • Here are some things I don't like:  That over the hill stuff, won't win you any points.  So not funny
WWE wrestling?  How does my husband watch that crap?  And
sports, so not my thing.  Oh, and Italian food...gag.  Oh, and
thanks Roni, yes, I don't care much for yellow or roses...yellow
    roses...yuck!

So, have some fun.  Make some cards.  You could win!
Our customers are voting, but I'll also give a prize to my very favorite
card.  Hopefully, I've given you some ideas about me...but if you
have questions, just ask!  You can ask my staff, my mom, my
friends, my husband, but if you ask my daughter, she'll probably steer
you in the wrong direction just for a laugh!

How funny is this?!!

So yesterday Kendall hopped in the back of her dads patrol car.
I told her to pose like Paris Hilton....this is what I got.  I
laughed so hard I almost peed my pants!  Here's page one of the two
page layout.  We just may have to use this for class....

Sharon's Altered Art Class

7 8 6 4 53

On Saturday, Sharon will be teaching Altered Techniques from 10 am to
noon.  Cost is $20.  Sharon will teach you the fundamentals
of altered art...everything from where to start....to what products to
use....to different techniques.  Class is hands on.  Sharon
lives & breaths altered art.  She has a knack for creating
something beautiful out of a discarded book or other object from your
recycling bin.  We'll continue to build on techniques each
month.  These projects are a small sampling of her work (they were
shrunk to fit...sorry for the distortion!).

The family traveling in this RV got out just in time.  They
handled this event with grace and dignity.  A lesson can be learned
from them...they are amazing people.  The firefighter in this
photo happens to be my nephew Bobby.  Funny where paths choose to
cross....

A lesson learned....

Inventory

We came...we saw...we counted...and counted...and counted.  We
did inventory at the store this weekend.  We unearthed some long
lost treasures.  Did you know that we have over 40,000 sheets of
paper?  And my trusty helpers counted each and everyone of
them!  And we have over 15,000 embellishments.  That's just
the tip of the iceberg.  I'm too tired to even think but had to
thank everyone that helped (in no particular order):  Audra, Kim,
Richard (he's a counting fool!), Mom, Bob, Dad, Lyn, Ashton, Sherry,
Sharon, Kris (aka The Count, wah ha ha), Bridget, Wanda (my fabulous EK
rep), Don, Kendall, and Leah.  You all ROCK!  I cannot say
thank you enough!
